What is a stainless steel tube mill line?
A stainless steel tube mill line is a continuous system that uncoils stainless strip, progressively forms it into an open tube, welds the longitudinal seam, controls the weld bead, sizes and straightens the tube, and cuts or coils the finished product. The required welding, shielding, heat treatment, inspection and surface finishing depend on whether the tube is decorative, structural, sanitary, heat-transfer or process tubing.
Select the line from the finished tube and acceptance standard
Stainless tube production is not one universal process. A polished furniture tube and a tube intended for fluid, heat-exchanger or sanitary service can require different weld control, bead treatment, heat treatment and testing. Unionindus begins with the finished-tube drawing, material grade, surface finish, application and acceptance criteria before defining the mill.
Application routes
- Decorative and architectural tube — surface protection, consistent shape, cut quality and downstream grinding or polishing.
- General industrial tube — weld consistency, dimensional control and productivity for fabricated products and mechanical applications.
- Process, sanitary and heat-transfer tube — may require controlled shielding, bead treatment, online heat treatment, NDT and documented acceptance procedures.
