Project Overview
In January 2026, a customer in Uganda ordered two customized C/Z Purlin Roll Forming Lines from Union Indus for an equipment replacement and production expansion project.
The project included two different machine configurations: a standard-duty C/Z purlin machine for 1.5–3.0 mm material, purchased to replace the customer's existing equipment, and a new light-gauge C/Z purlin machine for 1.0–2.0 mm material to expand production capability for thinner-gauge purlins.
Both production lines were customized according to the customer's required profile sizes, material thicknesses and production requirements.
Customer Requirements
As an existing C/Z purlin manufacturer, the customer required equipment that could cover different material thicknesses and a wide range of C and Z purlin sizes.
The required production range included:
- C Purlin Width: 80–300 mm
- Z Purlin Width: 140–300 mm
- Standard Machine Material Thickness: 1.5–3.0 mm
- Light-Gauge Machine Material Thickness: 1.0–2.0 mm
- Production Speed: 12–30 m/min, depending on material thickness
The standard-duty machine was intended to replace an older production line, while the light-gauge machine added new manufacturing capability for thinner materials.
Our Solution
Union Indus engineered and supplied two customized C/Z Purlin Roll Forming Lines based on the customer's actual production requirements.
Standard-Duty C/Z Purlin Line
Designed for 1.5–3.0 mm material, this machine replaced the customer's existing equipment and provides reliable production of heavier C and Z structural purlins.
Light-Gauge C/Z Purlin Line
Designed for 1.0–2.0 mm material, the second machine expanded the customer's production range and provides a dedicated solution for lighter-gauge C/Z purlins.
Together, the two production lines allow the customer to process a broader range of material thicknesses and purlin specifications while maintaining efficient production.

Actual production speed depends on material thickness and production conditions.
Project Result
Both C/Z purlin production lines have been successfully put into operation in Uganda and are currently running stably in production.
The standard-duty line replaced the customer's older equipment, while the new light-gauge line expanded the factory's capability to manufacture thinner C/Z purlins. With two customized production lines covering different material thickness ranges, the customer can now respond more flexibly to different steel building and structural purlin requirements.
This project demonstrates Union Indus' ability to provide customized C/Z purlin roll forming solutions for both equipment replacement and production expansion projects.
